Hello,
I just removed my front sway bar to replace it with a new sway bar from Performance Products. After removing the stock bar I noticed that it has some kind of spacer on the bar next to where the bushing/bracket assembly would mount. I'm assuming that it's there to limit the travel of the bar.

Do I need to put these on my new bar? I've been looking at it for about 10 minutes and I'm not even sure if it can be removed.

Any help would be appreciated. Especially how to remove it if it can be removed.

Thanks,
Carter

uh

not sure exactly what youre saying...but performances' sway bar is for handling...I dont think you would use any spacers...just use the new bushings. If it doesnt look like it comes off anyway, it probably doesnt, unless theres something in the instructions that tell you to take them off and put them on the new bar..I dont see how they would anyway since the new bar is a larger diameter. If youre realy perplexed, email performance and let em know whats going on..they should have a quick answer for you.

BTW NICE stereo..blau baby, blau!

Hello,
The instructions say this: "This kit may come with none, some, or all of the hardware required to install the bar depending on the installation. If the hardware is not included with the kit, the hardware from the O.E. bar must be retained and re-used."

The parts I received for the front were new end links but no new front bushings.

I think I'm just going to install the new bar as-is since I don't see any way to remove the spacers.

I love my Blaupunkt! I also have the 10 disc Blaupunkt CD changer.

Hey guys,
Has anyone ever replaced a front sway bar on a 96? I'm surprised that with all of the Explorer people on this board that I've only received one answer.

Well, I just got a letter from my dealer 2 day ago about my front sway bars on my 95 are being recalled for replacement...more on that to come!

Hey,
Well, the spacers are removable but won't fit my new bar anyway. I took it out for a test drive and immediately noticed an improvement in handling. Much tighter road feel and less sway.

I suggest you use that spacer or clamp. You can not use the metal parts that will hold the plastic spacer because it will not go in through the tip of the sway bar (the tip of the sway bar is too big). I used a stainless clamped with screw (that I bought from Home Depot)instead to hold the spacer. I forgot the size, but this clamp is used usually to clamped a sprinkle PVC hose although a bigger size. You need that spacer to hold the sway bar in place. Last time I did not clamped that spacer I noticed some travel marks on each sides. I figure there is a reason why they have that spacer or clamp in place. Hope this will help.
