Hey everyone...

Go easy on me as I am a total noob and this is my first post. I just bought a 2004 XLT from a friend of mine. It is in great shape and I love it...except for some damage to the right running bar. This is not the "flat" running board but rather the tubular bar and it is all bent due to him accidently driving over some snow which turned out to really be ice. At any rate, does anyone have any idea what the real name for this part is and what the part number is? I don't want to buy a brand new one but I do want to replace it with a stock part...maybe with one from a salvage yard or something? Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Hi Neal,

They're called Nerf bars, side steps, running boards etc. There are a few different styles...it's quite confusing as different styles were intermixed between models and years. I actually found the part number for the dented piece on my '02 PS running board and the cheapest I could find was over $500. The whole assembly is cheaper...lol.

Best thing to do is look on craigslist, ebay or at your local salvage yard and select by appearance. Most sellers won't know the part number anyway. If inquiring via Email send a pic of your existing setup so the seller knows exactly what you're looking for.
