Hello all! The front driver's side wheel bearing on our '12 Explorer has suddenly become quite noisy over the past month or two, and I'm trying to figure out if replacing it is a simple DIY or not. I attempted a search but with no luck! If it's as simple as removing the axle bolt, unbolting the hub, and replacing- I can handle that!

Is anyone familiar with the procedure or aware of a write-up? Thanks!

Little bit more involved than that. You will have to pull the caliper out of the way, remove the rotor.

You also have to unbolt the steering knuckle from strut or lower control arm so that axle can be pulled all the way out the back. One of these changes your alignment.

And if you have any parts seized up your gonna be putting some extra time into it. Get a can of PB Blaster, Kroil, or mix acetone with ATF and use as a penetrating fluid.
