front wheel bearings

hello everyone, I'm new to all this, don't know my way around this bd very well. But I need some advice on replacing my front wheel bearings. I have a 91 explorer, with normal two wheel drive, with a push button to go to 4 wheel drive.I have my tire and brake pads off and i'm down to the 2 and 1/2 in axle nut that has a flat retaining keeper in the axle groove flush with the axle nut. How do i get the keeper out to take the nut off to get to the bearings?

Hi again, well, I found the pictures and the answers in the archives about the pick and magnet. Thanks to all so much. this was fun. I'll be back to chew the fat with u guys another time.
