My friend had a crazy idea, swapout frontend parts from a F150 to my 92 Ford Explorer.. both trucks are 4x4, one has a blown engine (f150).

We took mesurements, and most of them are the same except the pitman arm is longer, and the coil spring is taller. This would be a cheapo lift it if it works... what im asking is has anyone tried this before? I used the search and came up with squat...

The '88 F150 is going to be a TTB Dana44. It's wheel track will be wider than your Explorer, and the bolt pattern will be different. You would need to compensate the rear axle width somehow to match.

Cheap lift wise..............I don't see any advantage

Is there any other alternitive for a cheap lift of a few inches for it?

and the pitman arm and springs alone wouldnt do anything?

Yeah they would...but since the front end of the f-150 is heavier they would make your truck ride like crud. You can put f-150 spacers from a 2wd to get almost 2" lift.

Good luck
