I've seen this mentioned in a few topics, so I thought that I'd explain.

WHen I lived in San Diego County, they used to run an ad for this thing in the paper. It adds platinum to your fuel system, causing a 98% combustion rate, vice as low as 75% in stock systems. The other 25% is burned up in the catalytic converter, after approximately 1/2 hour warm up. Prior to that, 25% of your mixture just ends up as pollution.

I scanned the ad, but can't find it right now. I'll post it as soon as I can find it.

If this is the same deal I think it is, it uses platinum ions to (theoretically) increase combustion. It does this by using a solution containing what is said to be platinum and drawing air vapor thru it. You place this reservoir in your engine compartment, connect a T in one of your vacuum lines and connect it to the reservoir with another hose coming off the reservoir and going to the PCV hose.

I saw the ad about 5 years ago and ended up ordering one and it had a money back guarantee. After using it for a couple of weeks (in a different kind of vehicle), I saw no change in performance or fuel economy so I sent it back for a refund which I did receive. JerBear was talking about the same thing in another post and said it improved his mileage by 3-4 MPG.
