Both my fuel and temperature gauges do not work properly. When I first start up the temperature gauge falls all the way to the bottom on the high side and the fuel gauge falls to the bottom past empty.
However, I am also dealing with a slight over heating problem and when the temperature gets high enough (after ~20min) BOTH gauges come back to life and continue working until I shut down again.
So it definitely seems like an electrical issue to me, rather than a sensor or gauge problem. It seems like once there is enough voltage coming from the temp sensor that it finally overcomes whatever problem there is. I have not been able to find any guidance on this type of issue.
I have been able to live without the fuel gauge by just using the trip odometer, but now that I need to troubleshoot the overheating problem, a working fuel gauge would be nice.
Does anyone know what is common between these two items (some circuit?), and how to troubleshoot/fix it?
