- 97 Explorer Sport 4.0 OHV
I have just recently bought this truck so don't accuse me of not taking care of it :0
I have a 1997 Ford Explorer OHV 4.0L and it has 2 injectors that are flowing 73/100 and 78/100. My fuel cap light loves to come on randomly during trips and then magically turn itself off when it feels like it.
To boot, I get about 200 miles per tank of gas.
I know I need to either clean or change those injectors so I am doing that, but why is this light coming on. I have checked numerous times and the cap is secure!
I am buy a new cap, but is there something else?
Somebody mentioned if your fuel cap light comes on and you get bad gas mileage it could be your fuel pressure regulator? How expensive are those and how easy to change yourself?
