went to change the FF on my 98 today. 4.0L OHV. I can't seem to get it disconnected from the fuel lines. I took the safety clips off and I don't see anything else holding them in. What's the trick to this?

Thanks in advance :D

I Bought removal tool from Pep Boys. Had a little trouble with it releasing retaining clips from filter. I had to modify it to work. Might want to buy fuel filter removal tool Ford Parts Center so you know you wont have trouble.

You need the fuel filter removal tool.

Is this available at parts stores or do I have to go through Ford? Also, my new filter didn't have any clips in it. Should it have or does this just push in somehow? Sorry for the silly questions but all the fuel filters I have done in the past have had the plastic clips that hold them in.

thanks again

Any parts store should have it.

Don't buy the crappy plastic removal tools either, I just bought a set today and they dont work to well. The plastic get bents and screwed up also.

I bought a metal tool and ended up returning it for the plastic ones. They seem to work much easier. Remember to push in on the line and then pull outwards to release it.
