Where is the fuel filter and how do you get to it on a 2007 V8 explorer?

Thanks

fuel filter is located inside the frame rail, passenger's side, behind a heat shield

ok... found it. The input side is easy to get off (with tool) two little clips hold on...
how do you get the other connector/side off that has the red clip on it?

The other line has a clip that releases without a special tool. These clips are called R-clips. Each one has a little locking tab that you release, which allows you to squeeze the ends of the clip toward each other and slide the clip partially out of the connector housing, which releases the line from the filter nipple. Study the clip carefully before you attempt to remove it so you won't damage it.
On a 2007, the clip should look like this:

I have one of those... thats for the black/grey connector with the two tabs right?
What about the other connector that is black/red larger single tab?

here are the two clips...

The tool I have is just a clamping tool (round and is used for various size hoses/lines).

Dude, you just saved me hours of misery. Thank you. :):us:

dont lose the red clip because nobody sells it and you will be walking for a long time

edit 4-23-16... just did the filter on mine and I have to say worst design ever.... good thing I found my disconnect tool because I though you didnt need one and after fiddling with the red clip for over an hour I tried the tool and the line just slipped right out
