96 awd limited
I am in the process of replacing a bunch of things on my x. Its a 96 limited awd 5.0. it has 195k kilometers. I have recently added a 3'bl, AAL, shackles, and a TT. Along with 33' super swampers, an oil change switching to synthetic, spark plugs, and a K&N drop in filter. I was wondering if it is even worth it to replace the fuel filter, that haynes manual says not to replace it unless it is clogged. However I have had good luck with replaceing the fuel filter on prevous vehicles (incease in MPG and maybe a lil more power). So what does everyone think? replace or not?

Never seen one clogged before, but hell, Why not replace it? Especially if you are cleaning up all of the little things. There is nothing like knowing everything is running with new parts...

After removing the old one, cut it open and see what iy looks like.

Not to replace it unless it is clogged> Like that line how do you know when it’s blocked, is that when it’s running like chit and has no power, or do you wait until the injectors get filled with chit as well then replace it.

Replaced my yesterday it immediately ran better, I went to 2 parts stores trying to find the removal tool then ended up going to a Mining, Industrial and Automotive suppler and spending 15 minutes looking throe catalogues to try and find the right tool, finely found one $16 later For a plastic tool that probably cost 5cent’s to make.

Got home got under the Explorer 1st try failed yelled abuse at the stupid filter, got up calmed down got under the truck agene 2nd try fuel lines came of straight away.

so how can you makethat tool? or do you have pics of it. I picked up the filter allready what I have done in the past is just use vice grips and a screw driver but thats a pita

You guy’s can properly pick up the tool for $4, it’s just over hear we get the privilege of paying outrages prices for automotive parts.
