Pull the fuel pump fuse, then release the pressure by pushing in the Schrader valve on the fuel rail.

Good luck and be sure to wear eye protection.

ok thanks and i've got a good set of goggles and thanks for the warning.

ok stupid question but where is the Schrader valve on a ohv 4.0l?

I'm about to do the same filter replacement. I have a 98 6V SOHC. Does the valve look the same and in relatively the same location as the one pictured above on my exp?

Thanks!

Looks the same and is located on the fuel rail at the driver's side front of the motor.

Hi Adam and welcome to the site... do you have the info on removing the fuel filter, or search for some info on this site? If you haven't already found it you should read the Fuel Filter removal thread. It has lots of info, pics and tricks on removing the fuel filter.

Thanks Al for the hint!! and Merry Christmas!
