my fuel gage isnt working anybody got any guesses why

or how much to replace and how would i do it

what's it doing? reading at empty? mines a bit wierd too... when the truck is off it reads a certain point... and when I drive a bit the needle goes up to a certain point.. I heard thats normal for some vehicles tho

its common for the float in the tank to get a hole in it. there are topics about it. the tank has to be dropped to replace the float. mine has been like this for over a year. im in no hurry to fix it because i use the trip meter to know when i need to fill up.

If its reading empty, the float may have sunk or there is no voltage to the gauge, or there is a short to ground in the sender line. If its reading full, when it shouldn't, its probably the sender in the tank. Also check the cable connector for corrosion. The connector is on the passenger side of the frame rail, near the spare tire. If you can check it with an ohmmmeter, the sender should read about 160 ohms full and close to zero ohms empty.
