Fuel gauge issue on my 94

My fuel meter is malfunctioning on my 94 XLT, it waves back and forth. Any ideas of how i can fix this?

Hi Mike,
Unfortunately the fuel pump sending unit to monitor fuel level is located in the fuel tank.
 






Could it be a bad ground issue? If there is a short/ground issue I would think that you could get some strange signals.
