Ok when I got my x my dad swore to me the fuel gauge didn't work right. According to him it never went below half full even when the x was running on fumes. Yet now it works for me and he doesn't seem to believe me. How can it just stop working then start working again? Also, just wondering, how many miles do you guys get out of a tank of gas on your X's?

You could have a faulty sender and or gauge that causes the proble,

On the highway I average 500 miles per tank.

Most X's average 250-350 per tank I believe.

I usually go for around 250-280 on mine til I get paranoid and just go fill it up. Though it seems I'm the only one of my friends who buys gas more than $5 at a time.

On our '92 that doesn't have a gas gauge.. we get 250 miles in 15 gallons of gas assuming we aren't towing anything.. so At 250 I start to worry about gas.. by 280 I'm starting to panic..

You guys can only get 250 to 280 miles to a tank?
Must be the older X's.

I'm with Aldive, I can get 500 miles to a tank (Highway) and 420 to 450 (City), but then again, when I fill up, I fill it to the threads on the tank. :)
