recently my explorer started to die. it sounded like it wasnt getting enough fuel to the engine. i know it would run fine if it was getting the fuel that it needed. i replaced the fuel filter and it didnt change a thing. i have like half a tank or more of gas in it so i know thats not it. and i heard that u could do a fuel pressure test on it but i dont kno how to do that or where to get the fuel pressure gauge. so if someone could point me in the right direction that would be great.

You need a tester like this.

They are <$50 even at auto parts stores...

there is a shrader valve on the fuel rail on the passenger side of the upper intake. That is where you connect the tester.

It should read low 30's at idle when running and when you pull the vacuum line off the fuel pressure regulator (right next to the schrader valve) the fuel pressure should jump up to 38 or so.

edit: here is a good how to I found by searching for "fuel" in the useful thread forum. Has pics and all...
