fuel problems

are 1991 ford explorer has been cuts out and dies. we have replaced the fuel filter and the problem got worse. we have bought a fuel pump and looking for the instrustions of how to put it in. my daughter is ill and we need the car if anyone can help we would be greatful :(
 






unfortunately, the fuel pump isnt very easy to get to - i think you usually have to remove the gas tank - which is a pain.

I have replaced my fuel pump twice in the 8 months I have owned it, long story. I am now very good at removing/installing. You will have to drop the tank, not fun or easy, unless you have a full frame lift. If you have the tools and the willingness to do it, I can help with whatever questions you have. Make sure you have a fuel line disconnect tool before you start tho, its a pain to have to stop in the middle of things and run to the store. I would make sure that the pump is the problem first tho, could be the fuel pressure regulator. Let me know.
 






Have you replaced the fuel pump relay? It's a lot easier and cheaper than the pump, and it could be your problem. Also, have you checked the fuel pressure to verify that it's a pump problem?
