i am new to the forum...but i got a few questions...
i was exploring the other day and found this site and when i did i found the post i really liked..liked and was so interested i joined the forum..
the post related to floor hole cutting for access to pump in the explorer..
and it was newer exploer because i could tell from the pump unit..
now i am in australia and have an imported ford explorer and its make date was in 2003-4
its 4.6litre v8 and its the one with the works that we have to order from the states.
i believe from looking at those 2002-2004 seem all the same...
the fuel pump location is off the planet located in the tank...and the tank is under the car in a location that requires the car be jacked on about 6-9inch blocks or stands all round...to get to it...
i had a go a replaing the pump only part on the whole thing...for the cost of $500 because the whole lot pump complete unit was quoted at $1500...
now no ford dealer here knows much about these imports and dont want too!
so i hd to get my part from a proformance shop...
we tried a denso ...and it worked for a week and died.
i been told replace the inner filtewr on the pump 1 a year and replace the pump 1 every 5 years
so i figure a access hole is the best plan for that...
so if anyone knows the post where by the guy jut done it....and has a number of photos all linked and remarks about sealing the lid with slicon
please let me know where the post is...
2ndly...the unit i got ..that is the complete pump and float and gauge etc etc..
its the pump system where the whole pump slides up and down on rails with spring loaded....
does anyone know all the parts on it...and what they do...
does anyone have the ford part numbers for any of it..
does anyone know the replacement pump is buyable from ford usa or do you have to get the whole thing form ford dealer usa..
i welcome any help you got...

thank phil
