My fuel pump went out in my explorer. So I put in a new one and make sure that was the problem. It was very weak. So I got it in and 2 weeks later today it leaves me stranded at wal-mart. So I am going to hook a toggle switch going directly to the pump and it should crank on up.

Hi. Don't forget to check the inertia safety switch on the passenger side just above where the carpet ends under the glove box. They had a nasty habit of coming unplugged or the connector melting. Just a thought. Have seen many of them towed in because of this.

Well see I have already checked that before I towed it in. So today I have bypassed it by just hooking up a toggle switchup to it and the fuel pump will run but it won't crank. Im thinking it may be that my filter is clogged. I dont know though. It will turn over and everything so im thinking it has to do with my fuel filter.

Have you checked for spark? You say that it "won't crank" and "will turn over". What does that mean?

No It doesnt have a spark so i am going to test the crank sensor b/c someone told me that it could cause the fuel pump not to run and not crank up.

I don't think the crank sensor is associated with the fuel pump running. If you are sure the fuel pump is running, then pursue the crank sensor. If the FP is not running, I don't think replacing the crank sensor will have any impact on the FP running.

This is how you test that sensor. Connect a breaker bar or a ratchet to a pulley, and turn the engine over with the key in the run position. You should hear the fuel pump cycle for a few seconds every time you turn the engine with the ratchet.

I have already figured out the problem. It is my PCM. I know this b/c I was able to crank it up today. When I turned the key it turned on my check engine light like it is suppose to. Then I tried to crank it up again but it wouldnt. When I broke down it didn't say the check engine light. So my pcm is acting up. If you know of a way to get around the Ignition part of the pcm please tell me. B/c i dont want to have to buy a new pcm for a work truck.

That sounds like it could be a bad ground connection for the PCM or a failing PCM relay. The fuel pump won't turn on if the PCM doesn't turn on since it provides the signal to turn on the fuel pump relay.

Well it is not the relay b/c i had switched it with another one and it cranked up. So I wanted to see if it was really fixed so i shut it off and cut it back on. It cranked back up and then it immediatly shut off. My battery is good and my alternator didnt mess up. For some reason it just shut off.
