I have a Mazda with a Fumoto oil drain valve and like it very much, so I'd like to get one for my 2006 Explorer. In looking at the Fumoto catalog, it appears that I need the F-106N (w/nipple). In looking under the Explorer, it appears that I do NOT need the F-106 adapter - do I have this all right?

Has anyone installed the Fumoto oil drain valve in their late model Explorer without using the adapter? If so, did this create any problems?

From what i understand that is just a spacer to get the valve further from the pan. The note i read said that the adaptor was for a honda as i remember. I just ordred one for my ranger and it is not here yet. Should just be a 14 x 1.5 nothing fancy.

I knew that it was a spacer, what I don't know is if it is needed in my Explorer. FWIW, I've installed the valve in 2 Miatas and both needed the spacer.

I didn't need one for my 2002. It also appeared that I needed one for my 2002 Mazda 626, so I bought one but didn't need it for that car either.

I don't think I'd need the adapter for my 2006, but I went ahead and ordered it anyway. I'm calling the extra $6 an insurance fee! :D
