Fuse problem?

Hey there all...

A while ago I was installing some strobes, got bored... in the process a fuse was blown, and later found and replaced. I think one might have been put in the wrong spot or switched with a wrong one on accident. Problem is... since around that time my doors don't lock anymore when I start to drive. You know, the get in and start to back up and CLICK... They just don't it anymore.

The odd thing is that they still function fine. Hit the switch and they lock. I'm thinking that they couldn't have a fuse JUST for that function?!? The wiring I was working with also doesn't come anywhere close to being able to disable that, so I know that it can't be that, at least.

Any help is appreciated.

I don't have any concrete answer, but I wonder if the auto lock feature is a programmable one.. Blowing the fuse could have reset this feature to not lock. My after market Alarm has this feature and can be programmed to work in auto lock or manual mode.

The auto door locks are controlled by the GEM module - a small computer that sits behind the radio under the dashboard (hard to get at). There is a possiblilty that you blew it - and or its fuse somewhere else, like under the hood... I'd check that out.

If you blew the GEM - count on a couple hundred bucks unless you can find a good one in the salvage somewhere.

BTW, the GEM controls things like the door locks - windows - stereo - interior lights - automatic 4x4, etc. When it acts up - lots of weird things start happening.

You know what........ I remember unplugging some stuff in there and I might have missed that one plug when I put it all back together... I'll go check that out in a bit.
