 so i got my new cd deck installed. go thru the door panel removing process... detach my stock speaker and splice the new one on. get it all set up... and its fuzzy as hell. it sounds terrible. i tired more than one of the new speakers and i know its not the wiring on the back of the cd player cause the stock speaker sounded fine.

any ideas?

First check to make sure that hooked all the wires up correctly on the new speakers and that if the new speakers have a cross over, you have that hooked up correctly. Next at low volume listen to both the woofer and the tweeter on the speaker, and make sure that you aren't getting highs out of the woofer and lows out of the tweeter.

the wires coming from the door are grey and yellow. the ones i have for the speakers and grey and grey/black... is it just a guessing game which is which? i did try switching them around but the same thing happened.
perhaps for some reason could it be the conncetion with the cd player and wire harness?

could be any number of thigs, however i once got a new deck, and for some reason one of the channels didnt work, it was actually defective new..... this might be an issue as you have said you tried other speakers and they are fine..... hook up the stock speakers and see if they do the same fuzzy thing

Let's define fuzzy a little better, are you getting highs at all?

Wiring a set of speakers backward won't have a huge effect if you wire them all backwards. You might notice a slight difference if some are and some aren't. It's a phasing thing.

Edit: Also what kind of speakers are you trying to hook up?

they are pioneer 4 way 220 watt. so they should be able to handle what i am throwing at them. i have only 1 hooked up right now and the volume coming out is a lot lower than the 3 stock that are still hooked up. none of the stock make the distorted noise. it would be compared to if the speaker was blown out. when it is at a low level its sounds ok but it is lower than the others. when i turn it up it sounds absolutly terrilbe.
one guy suguested since i only have 1 in right now it may be a different ohm rating than the others. but i dont see how that would fix how the new one sounds.
and i dont think its the crossover cause i tired hooking it up the opposite and it sounded the exact same.

Mixing the ohm ratings is bad news since your 1 speaker will be creating more or less resistance than the other ones. I would suggest unhooking the other ones and then listening to the new speaker by it self. Also make sure your head unit is set property for the ohm rating of those new speakers. If it is set wrong that might be part of your problem.
