Can someone tell me where the gas filter is on my 03, 6 cyl, 4 door Explorer. I have spent 20 minutes under there looking thinking it was in the frame rails. No luck yet.

thanks

If you're talking about the Fuel Filter, it is under the front passenger. There is a metal plate with 3 bolts covering the filter. You will need to remove this first to see the filter which is on/near the frame rail. It's infront of the tank on the passenger side.

Anybody have pictures?

I can't seem to find the "plate". It all looks like a long black tray under the passenger side. Is it near the front passenger door or the rear passenger door?
Thanks...

Perhaps the 93s are different, on my 91 it's under the driver's door, underneath the car. You will need to relieve the fuel pressure, and use the special fuel line connection tool to separate the connector.
Do some searches, ask questions.

more ?'s

Thanks for the pics...I have an '03 Explorer, and I have searched the forums, but there seems to be a bit of ambiguity about where it is....I've read...that the fuel filter is on top of the tank and then I've read that's it's on the rails under a plate by the passenger side. That's why I wanted some pics...I still, however, cannot locate it...

It's in front of fuel tank behind a heatshield near the exhaust on the passenger side. I believe it has 2 bolts for the sheild. There are 2 filter parts for this model year (02 - 03) one for flex fuel (filter has 2 inlet and 1 output) and one for regular (normal 1 in and 1 out).

Edit for:
It has both a push lock and a J-Clip style connectors. Get the tools for them

My 2005 flex fuel only has one inlet. Your are right, it is mounted infront of the fuel tank, with a cover. Remove the cover then you can see it.

My mistake, I saw your sig and read 93 instead of 03.

Still a good idea to relieve pressure before opening lines.

okay...just want to be sure...it is a silver plate near the front of the passenger side door? and by the exhaust from right behind the motor?
