Was setting on empty.. so I stopped in to put $30.00 in... got back in the car.. gauge hasn't moved..

I'm hoping that maybe it's just "stuck" and it might start working at lunch or after work... but has anyone had any isssues like this?

What should I look for.. known fixes etc..

Thanks so much!

there are two different types of sending units, one has some kind of ac/dc converter that goes on them. the other does not.

the ford tech showed me the difference between the two units. the tech informed me that he had to drop the tank twice because it was not the sending unit in the gas tank but the converter on top of the tank.

I hope this helps.

Once every couple of months, mine does the same thing. I notice that it SLOWLY starts going up as I drive it over the following couple of days... Hopefully this will be the case for you?

It does seem to only happen when the gauge is really close to empty... but not all the time.

my Gas Gauge when over full sometimes reads empty for a few miles.

today ran out of gas without check gauge light even comming on, I put 2 gallons in and reads half tank. looks like I have another project.

Mine has done this before. Hasn't happened to me in a while but it usually takes a day or so before it levels out.

well, as per the local dealership, this is a common issue with 3rd gen ex. they told me to turn off the key while filling the tank. strangely enough, it works!
