Gas problem

First off i am not sure if this is in the right spot but anywaise the past few times i have filled my tank and the pump clicks saying its full a quirk burst of gas comes out of the tank where the gas gets pumped into this is the third time this has happened and seeing about 1/4 gallon of gas on the ground kinda pisses me off especially with the prices today is this a problem with the pump or my gas tank?

It could be a clogged or pinched air vent hose. Do you always go to the same gas station, and use the same pump?

The little clip/hook thing...

Are you letting the gas pump itself by using that little clip on the handle?

I've noticed that some gas pumps work faster than others. It could shoot the gas into the hole at a fast rate, then splash back if the tank is mostly full.

A 1/4 gallon is a lot... so what's the story? I can't visualize you there pumping gas and just watching it come back at you... or knowing it's going to happen, but just waiting. What gives? Some cutie nearby and you're not paying attention??
