could possibly be a clogged breather/vent line. do you take it in the mud or water alot? if so check all lines related to the tank/ charcoal canister/vent lines. just check them all for possible clogs or pinched lines

Welcome to this forum! I've moved your thread into the 2001-2005 Sport Trac section. The vent line could be blocked or a vacuum line on the emissions system could be damaged as previously stated.
