So 6 hours later.. they once worked. For the first night of their new home, I go out and give them a try. Now, take in hand, the left section of the face top (where the wire comes out) was a snug fit to the top of the dash in the first place.
Like I was saying, I went out, decided to throw some music on and just left it in the on position. Blue was the setting on the switch, so it was working fine, so I switch to green, then back to blue pretty fast. No sooner later does the left side start to flicker (not too fast), almost to the beat of the music. After around 20 seconds, it shows no life.
Now, I'm not exactly "happy" about this, after all, spent my "day off" doing this only to find out it was a failure. Keep in mind, both the middle and right sides are PERFECTLY fine with full glow and don't show any sign of the same as the left side. The inverter, power, ground, and wire itself going to the gauge faces are all in good condition, nothing is wrong.
My question is- what could've happened? I can only assume: 1) the plug into the wire became loose slowly and fell off somewhat, 2) the top of where the wire goes into the place bent too much [perhaps snapped? doubt it] or some of the sorts... but I was just sitting in the driveway, nothing of motion whatsoever, 3) the gauge face (left side only) "fried" itself, if that's even possible?
Please shed some light.. before I spend another hour or so troubleshooting this thing, and even just getting to the gauge cluster again in itself is tedious... please only respond if you've installed gauges as well and have a pretty good idea of what could've happened. I plan on going back in the dash tomorrow night if I have a good enough clue from you guys what "happened."
Thanks very much.
