Gauge light and cold weather.

Have a 99 explorer that does not like cold weather. Gage light comes on Temp gage doesn't register. Idles rough and once you give it a tiny bit of gas and it warms up the gage light goes off and the vehicle is good for the day?

probably the oil pressure sending unit causing the gauge light.
