I was thinking about the swapping of white-faced 2001+ Sport or SportTrac for my black 1996, but how do I change the mileage to reflect my current mileage? I'm not into fraud... :) Also, do I just plus the new component in or will I have to do some calibration? I looked at the white-face install listed in Useful Topics that covers just placing new faces on... but what about an entire cluster? Will I need to calibrate the system somehow or will the electronic components cover that itself?

when changing an ododmeter there is no way to modify a current reading to what yours used to be.....

I don't want to have it less... I want it more. Chances are the Sport/Trac won't have 90,000+ miles... I just want an accurate match to my current reading...

there isnt a way to do it... you just tell dmv that it is wrong when you try to sell the vehicle..... i would just get the guage faces for ease of adjustment....grafting on a new dash inst fun...way too much work

wait wait wait!!!!
I did this mod to my truck, you can pull out the odometer part on your truck and swap the odometers from each guage. Its really easy. Once you get the guages out i believe there are a few screws and both odometers will swap right out. Its a piece of cake. The thing that makes me mad about mine, is I haven't got my new speedo gear for my 31" tires, and that i didnt calibrate the needle right when i put the 01 sport guages in. So my total miles are probably off by 400-800 miles total. Oh well, I'm working on that now.

So needles must be recalibrated? How is that done?

take a picture at rest and try to duplicate their look when done... it isnt easy......

The speedo one you can just push it in while driving 40 mph or so alongside a friend with cruise and pop it back in. The other ones should realign. You also might need a 2001 sport temp sending unit. When I put my guages in, my temperature kept overheating, way past the red zone. so i got a 01 sending unit and it fixed the problem

Good Lord... I don't know if this is worth it.
