Hi All,
I am new to the site but have visited several times getting useful info on my Explorer. Lately I have noticed gear oil coming from the vent tube on the front end. I checked the oil level and it seems to be ok although it is below the fill screw 1/4 in or so ( hard spot to check and fill ). I only noticed it when the weather turned cold. Has anyone else seen this problem before. I keep checking it as I certainly don't want to run low on gear oil.
Any suggestions? Also what type of oil should I replace the old stuff with as it has never been replaced and I would like to use a sysnthetic there as I use it in the engine, tranny and transfer case.
Thanks !
