Hey fellas, looking for some help if possible. Ill try and make a long story short.
2000 Ranger, 3.0 Flex, 2wd, Automatic. The truck suffered a serious electrical spike (long story) and we had to replace the GEM , PCM, and a few other things. The GEM that came out of it had the part number
YL5T 14B205-AA. We bought a new one from a Ford guy online, and the one we got is
YL5T 14B205-FA. He claims its the correct one. The speedomter reads superfast, which is causing all sorts of transmission shifting issues. It has been to 2 Ford dealers to try and re-calibrate the GEM . Both couldnt do it, and charged a $100 fee for hooking their computer up. I was beginning to think maybe we have the wrong GEM.
I realize ford made different GEMS, i have seen a -BA, -DA etc. are these updated ones? ones for 4wd, standard trans, etc?? Has anyone ever dealt with this?
Can anyone verify to see what the correct one is for my truck?
I would rather not blow any more money at the Ford dealer if possible.
Thanks for any input
Mark
