I just received an email from the company that sells Fumoto Drain Valves and they are offering a 15% discount. Unfortunately I have already equipped all of my cars so I'm out of luck. I don't have anything to gain by posting this, I'm just a satisfied customer and thought you might be interested.

Here's the text of the email with the discount code:

YM International Co., Authorized online retailer of Fumoto
Engine Oil Drain Valve, wishes to provide you and your friends
with a SPECAIL 15% DISCOUNT OFFER to thank you for supporting
our business and celebrate the Holiday Season.

Using SVC2 as a discount code, you and your friends will get
15% OFF when ordering at our online store: www.fumotovalve.com
This Special Offer is for limited time only. *Expiration: 12/31/02

Thanks. I just bought one for our Toyota truck and got the 15% discount. :)

I'm glad to see someone benefitted with the discount! :)

i havent been under my truck in a year, so... what is the chances i will rip that off on a rock or something?

If you commonly hit the oil pan on top of rocks, then you should stick with what you have. I think it drops the clearance by around 1/2" or so. It's your call, oil change convenience or security knowing you have the extra clearance.

I think you will find that there's lots of other stuff lower than the drain valve to be hit.

Yeah, that's why I'm sticking with the Sure Drain on my Explorer. The drain on the 4.0 OHV points straight down. Some have complained that the Sure Drain doesn't fully drain, but I changed the oil for the first time last weekend, and all of the oil came out, just slower than normal. The Sure Drain has about the same clearance as the original drain plug, but you can change oil without using a wrench and you can do it without a drain pan because the hose can go straight into the bottle that goes to the recycling place.

Our Toyota pu is a different story; the drain points sideways. I bought a Sure Drain for it, but decided to take it back because of the potential problem of not getting all the oil out. The clearance of the Fumoto isn't an issue with the Toyota and other people here seem to really like them so I ordered one for the Toyota.
