Getting rid of the ugly pinstripes..

I need to get rid of those butt ugly stripes on my explorer. How can I do it? I'm getting part of my car repainted..but not the whole thing. Should I have them take the stripes off and retouch the paint?

It is easy enough to do it your self.
Hair dryer or a heat gun and a little thumb work.
Really it all peals right off with a gentle touch.
A little residue will likely remain, tar/wax/ grease remover will clear that right up.

Neh, the paint is a lot tougher than that. Don't worry about pealing the paint off.

Pinstripes are on top of the clear paint coat not under.

On mine it worked really good to get the end started and then pull at a right angle to the stripe, down the body not out from it.

What about pinstripes on a 93 explorer -- those big plastic/rubber suckers...
Will it leave holes?
How do you get those off?

Thanks,
PJ

Joker: Are you talking about the dent prtector things? The ones that are about 2 inches high and stick out a half inch?
