gibson exit out the rear or the side?

on gibson's website they label the exhaust as "side swept" but have a note next to the application saying it comes straight out the back. However, I saw a guy on here that had his come out right behind his rear tire at an angle? Is this possible?

I think it kicks out behind the rear tire.

I have the stainless system on my '97 5.0L and it exits out the stock location straight out the rear.
