Bass songs

I know you've received a ton of replies so far, but one to add to the list is LL Cool J's "The Boomin System".
The first line of the song is:
"Just give a little something for them cars that be bumping."

Nuff said.
Silver chair often gets distorted because the bass in that album is recorded so low, so it's not your speakers.

Try to save your eardrums though. I've lost considerable hearing in one from my last system.

Bass Songs

I just got my system sounding amazing and I was to see how far I can push the woofers. I already have a bass test CD. I want real songs with words. I don't care what type of music it is, rap, techno, rock, whatever. I don't care if the bass in the song is really punchy or if it is almost one constant note. Just give me some songs so I can make a CD with tons of bass! Geez I am turning into a bass-head!!! Well not really I just wanna see how my system sounds with lots of overpowering bass. Then I'll turn the gain back down a little, maybe :)

Steve.

what kind??

You gotta seriously think about what kind of bass you want. a slow, sloppy boomin bass, or a seriously tight drum, or thunder or something slow and long, but controlled...like a 24 ft. organ pipe. Of all the stuff I listen to, I have to say the 1 that actually hurt my ears was the Front 242, Tyranny for You album. Their other stuff is pretty bass heavy in an unexpected way. I don't like rap bass, not that I don't like rap...I just think the bass in rap makes very good speakers sound like cheap 12" subs mounted to a sheet of plywood. Metallica is great, but mixed with so many other tones, its the whole spectrum youre hearing. Organ is the same way...big chords sound impressive, but you won't get a solo big pipe very often (Although Tocatta & Fugue in D minor (Bach) and something, something theme on B.A.C.H. (Liszt) are awesome). You want to really get a wierd album with some good bass, try something from Kraftwerk

Other stuff in my old-school arsenal that rock ofr bass:

- Meat Beat Manifesto, NOW
- Enjoi - pretty much anything
- Rob Zombie
- Metallica
- Janet Jackson (super mixing, dont really dig the music tho)
- Yello (The band that sings the "Oh Yeah" song)

have fun, and dont drive in my neighborhood at night

im in shock that no ones metnioned lets ride by ja rule. its like one solid bass beat for 20 seconds! its insane... be careful, those who have never heard subs are scared by this song!

I have the Telarc Version of Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture. I could make mp3's if you want. I also Have Bachbusters and Beethohen or Bust by Don Dorsey. All three CD's are pure digital.

Any high quality recording of pipe organ music should give plenty of bass. A real pipe organ can extend down to 7 Hz. That is well below human hearing, but not below butt feeling.

In my old truck, I had a decent system with JL subs. On the Bachbusters CD, with the Toccata and Fugue tracks, the whole truck would vibrate like crazy. If you don't watch out, you can damage your subs. same witht he cannon blasts on the 1812. PM me if you want these as mp3's or other suggestion of CD's I have.

again you would leave out one of the hardest hittin bass song out there! Rodney O & Joe Cooley Greatest hits

I just thought of one of the songs: Everlasting Bass

Grand Finale - Method Man, DMX, and Nas

This song separates the men from the boys.

I thought it was mad funny nobody noticed this thread was more than 2yrs old, the last post was in 2000 and then all of sudden theres a 2002 post:D . I was a member last year but something happened with my log-in and now I'm a new member again scince August of 02', but I remember this thread from last year.
Heres a few songs nobody mentioned:
1) Lost Boyz - Renee (pure classic, drops if you have a good system, you will love this song sounds so clear)

2) Lost Boyz and Redman - Belly of the Beast

3) Goodie Mob and Outkast - Sky High (drops hard as hell and has an excellant soothing flow to it)

4)Mau Mau (feat. Canibus and others) - Blak is Blak (or Black is Black depending on what program you download the song from) If your into rap/underground/hardcore get this song it is badddd azz! It hits harder than a mutha and has vicious lyrics!

5) Wu Tang - Triumph, or basically any Wu Tang song from the 1st 2 cds (last to were kinda lacking especially when compared to the "Wu Tang Forever" album, best cd, goota love the Wu!

For Rock:
1) Sublime - "What I Got" and "Summertime", Sublime is friggen awesome

2) 3rd Strike - the whole cd hits hard and sounds very clear. "No Light" rocks hard

3) Trik Turner - easily one of if not the best of the rap/rockers. "Friends and Family" is one of the best for clarity and bass.

4) Papa Roach (1st cd, 2nd one left the rap/rock thing which is a shame cause they were one of the best ones that stoodout) - "Last Resort" and the 1st song (can't remember the name, but they are damn good.

5) Linkin Park - The whole cd is amazing, the 1st cd where I like every single song. They know how to blend rap/rock with rap/rock beats combined for one truly amazing cd .

6) Disturbed - the new song "Prayer" is sweet/crazy on a system!

I have a bunch of cd's I burned over the last 2 yrs of a lot of barely heard and underground songs and I'll post some names of the groups/songs later on that at least the people into hip/hop will like, but also anyone else into bass and clarity.

Im really suprised that no one has mentioned Megadeth. All of there songs absolutely pound on my system but a couple of good ones are, Crush, symphoney of destruction, Trust, Angry Again... the list goes on but anything by them rocks.
