I am happy to be back in my garage after almost a year of my ex sitting around collecting dust. My first step was completing my Torque Monster install. For what it is worth, these tubes are nice. I called Al's headers last year and told them my situation. I spoke with Erica about needing them within twelve days, they arrived in seven at my doorstep. Work took me away two days later. I am back and need some advise.
My egr valve is rusted pretty bad and I can't unscrew the threaded sleeve. It is cheap enough to replace. Does it matter what brand with the egr valve or can I just pick up whatever O'Riley's carries?
I also need the shift linkage for my 4406 swap. Is this gonna be a junkyard item? I can't find one anywhere.
Last thing is my fuel filter. I changed the pump and ran it for a bit afterwards. Now I am trying to get the filter out with the special tool with no luck. I am afraid i may break something. Do I need to just give hell or is there a secret to using that tool?

I wish you luck with the fuel filter. I actually broke my connection by accident thinking I had to pull the plastic insert out like many others. instead, this was supposed to be pressed inward. Weird. As far as the 4406 shift linkage, I am sure you already know the model year range to pick it up from. 03 f150 4x4 actually worked for me. I went ahead and did the m5r2 swap and it actually came with the shift linkage on it which was a boon, but I had already picked one up from the junkyard. PM me and we can get it worked out if you wish. Otherwise, yes, the junkyards or even potentially ebay are where you'd want to get it.

For the header install, I would just go with whatever EGR they had. If they carry motorcraft I might be more inclined to go that direction, but if not, I wouldn't shed a tear. I actually just got my headers installed. If I could have gone through Al's Headers I would have but instead I had to settle for the clones. Anyhow, I have to reinstall the passenger side because I have an exhaust leak that is kicking my @ss around cylinder 4. Sucks because I was pretty careful to begin with. So ya, hit me up about your shift linkage if interested and we'll get it worked out.

Are you finished with your header install already? I found that a snubnose (half length) open ended wrench was key for the bolts that were "difficult" to reach on the passenger side header as well as the engine mount bolts. I went to Lowe's to pick up a cheapy and cut it in half but then saw they actually sold these little guys. Pretty cool.

Awesome, I will be getting the egr tomorrow. I am going to the junkyard on Saturday. If I don't find the linkage, I will definitely hit you up. I got the install done except for attaching the drivers side collector. I had to buy an angle grinder to cut off one of the bolts for the flange. For the header bolts, I heated one of my open ends and bent it. Worked great. It went in my ex tool box for safe keeping. I'm sure it will be used again. Next will be tt, warrior shackles and 2in lift. Thanks for the info. I will hit you up for sure if I don't find one on Saturday.

Sounds good. I'll try to be sure I check back here Saturday. Wish you luck with shift linkage.

On a side note, if you're after lift, I was after a few more inches with my stock SUA (on a ranger) setup so I modified the leaf pack to use a combo of expo and f150 springs. I cut the eyes off of the f150 main spring and installed it directly under the explorer main (connected to Belltech 2" shackles). I used the rest of the explorer pack and may have even added in one more f150 supporting spring too.. I'd have to check, but anyway I also had an add-a-leaf shorty on the bottom.

Gave me like an instant 4-5" lift SUA. Me being the street crawler I am, took out the add-a-leaf it it sits perfectly now. I say all this just to throw more options up on the table for you since you're hitting the jy. Worked great for me. May even put the add-a leaf back in, raise the front and get some bigger tires.. but that's a different day. For now, I like her just how she is.

Keep me posted.
