I am going to the stealership to test drive the Black EX I have wanted for a long time, since the last one I bought which was a 99 blue XLT....this is a little troublesome to me because I am going to be biased and I already know that I want it,.....But I am going to try an keep my cool and negotiate a moonroof.....hell I am buying the thing for Ca$h.......the list on it is.....$13,990....what do you all think I should pay for the vehicle or what would be your first offer....

Mydland,
Alot of it is ($$$) regional. I just got an '03 sport w/9k on it (Admittedly it is a 2 door) down here in Alabama for about 13K....From a dealership. I hounded them for awhile. I like you, did a cash deal, and knew I wanted it. I watched it set on the lot for a few weeks, and reminded them of it...frequently! Just told them "I'll give you 13K right now, today...or if you'd rather have it sit here for another few weeks, pay insurance on it, and loose an easy sell you can keep it". They have to move cars. Bottom line. Talk to the manager directly. The sales guys want to make as much as poss. (Commission). The manager wants to move cars. Even as "Loss leaders", where they advertise the car at YOUR price after you've already bought it. With the 'Unit may have been sold' disclaimer of course. I know how hard it is. I pretty much told the guy that I didn't REALLY care if he sold it to me or not, I was happy with my other car....Cat and mouse! Good luck!

FYI - this fall I paid $13k for my 00' XLT 5.0 AWD. It has EVERY option except leather and the Mach sound system (Premium sound instead). It had 40k miles on it. It is EXACTALLY what I wanted, and would have paid $2k more. I bought from a private party, the vehicle was in "excellant" condition, and I live in NorCal.

Personally, if it's under $14k for what you want (and describe), it sounds like a good deal.

Hope this helps.

Well,

I settled on the 2001 302 like, oversquare said, it was what I always wanted and it is a really nice EX for 23,000 miles and hey the power is awesome I love the v-8.....I am skeptacle about the 4WD ability but as winter is surely descending on South-western New York, time will most probably tell.......but it was what I wanted and I am psyched !! I gave 13,000 for the car plus I got the dealership to throw a few items in (moonroof) we shall see how the rest plays out

wooohoooo!!! :exp:
