My OD light on my 96 Eddie Bauer has been flashing and the codes have been reading to overdrive solenoid faulty and over heating. I had the solenoid replaced and the fluid changed to the proper stuff just to make sure.
The check engine light came on about 2 weeks ago and it was an O2 sensor in bank 3. I had that repaired. My mechanic looked at the other 2 and said that they looked okay but you can't tell by looking. Yesterday the check engine light came on again and I went back to the mechanic. He hooked up his diag reader and all sorts of codes dumped out. One was error code 741 and he said his machine would not translate that one. The other errors were "Torque converter clutch stuck off". It still drives normally but the OD light will flash on long hauls up long hills. It seems to be hunting for a home. $600-$1000 is the estimate.
Hey, it's only money.
Actually it really sux because the Joisey weather turned stinky yesterday and we are expecting a major storm Fri-Sat-Sun. If the X gives up the tranny, my other car ain't too good in the snow.
