2001 Explorer Sport Trac
Hey,
Srry about making another thread about this but i need feedback quick as the price i was originally quoted on my installation was misunderstood.
So what Im getting installed in my 2001 ford explorer Sport Trac:
-A custom box (in that tight space behind the seats)
-2 12" subs
-Mono amp
-4 speakers in each door
-simple deck
-An alarm system (starter and security)
-2 Dvd Screens that already in a separate heard rests (bought from Bestbuy, used as a display)
-(all wiring included even amp kit)
All this for $790 (I was quoted before for $590 but they didnt calculate for the alarm and screens)
So now i asked them I will pay $790 only if they throw in a capacitor w/ install and they said okay that will work.
So I need a little feedback as soon as possible as i want this installed quickly b/c its been over a month since I've had this system sitting at home and its taunting me lol

Thanks In Advance

I would if i knew how but I dont, plus this going to be professionally done and they have a lifetime warranty on their installation
So good deal or no?

it seems expensive to me...should be around the $500-$600 max

really but they're throwing in a capicitor and installing

you dont even need a capacitor with that system..its not big enough

I dont know about that cuz my cousin has 2 12" subs connected to the amp i have and his lights dim every time the bass pounds so i think i do need a capacitor especially cuz the screens are goin into too now plus the alarm system requires a bypass for the immobilizer but i dunno im a noob so your saying its not a good deal, there is a a lot to be done cuz they have to take out all the plastic coverings in the back and then build the box with very minimal room.

790 just to install it ? seems like a rip to me and caps dont cost much thats like the place that told my friend 300 to remove an alarm then he called me after i got done cursing the guy that told him 300 out i went home and removed it for him in about 20 mins and after seeing how they installed it in the first place i wouldnt let them hook a tv up and how many watts is the amp RMS

do you already have the box or are they building a box and that is included in the price....and im confident you wont need a cap...

This is going to turn into one of those threads where people get all up tight about who needs a cap and who doesn't I bet.

But with that setup, you do not need a cap.

Seems a little expensive. Honestly, its not that hard at all to install all this stuff yourself..even with little knowledge. All you really need is this site and a full day to do it.

i agree its not hard at all to install yourself the only thing that worried me the first time installing was the lcd's in the head rests but after you do it once its easy

lol i remember his setup from his first thread and there is no reason for a cap...they arent expensive anyway...if i lived closer i would put all this in for $300 and your right on...to do this right it would take about 8 hours.

Thanks for the input guys but the only reason why i thought i would need a capacitor is in my cousins explorer his lights dim every time the bass pounds and the amp is 600 watt rms.
So you guys think this is too expensive, but i dunno much, actually nothing, about this stuff but the alarm i have is a starter and alarm so it needs that bypass thing, and its a custom box but i dunno, and the guy i was talking to was saying maybe i could get it done for $700.
What do you guys think it should cost, and do you guys no anyone or company that does it in vancouver, B.C, Canada

is that 700 canadian? then that would be 573.54 american so its not as bad as it seems to us i guess

Yeah custom box is included in that price

ya it would be Canadian but i dont that would really matter cuz i think the price of labour is the same in Canada in U.S just different payment

I don't think the price is bad. Does it sond expensive.. YES. Is it on par with what I have paid.. YES. So is it a bad deal...NO. Get it done already. If I was in your situation, I would.

a capacitor will not stop voltage drops...90% of ppl including you do not even know the real purpose of a capacitor.

90% of the time a capacitor is not needed...upgrade your big three/four/five/or even six...the difference will rape a capacitor.

do some reading.
