I have a 92 4x4 Expl. EB, Auto trans. I have been running Pace Setter headers (2.5"dia.) for about two years now, and not very haopy with the design. The problem I'm having is the transmission shifter cable is chafing against the header pipe collar union. It is very close to the shifter cable bracket so it's not possible to get it out of the way. I'm thinking of buying some BORLA headers instead, since I have read that they fit like a glove and have no complaints with them. If someone has done this install on a auto trans Explorer, could you let me know how the BORLA's fit. Thank you.

I have the JBA headers on my Explorer. I've been very happy with them. I can provide details on them if you want.

Thanks for your reply, I've been looking into JBA or Borla headers. But I need to find out how they fit in a 92, and if there is any clearance problem with the shifter control cable (auto trans). By the way did you get the ceramic coated JBA's?

Yup, I have the ceramic coated JBA's. I really like them. You can really tell the heat difference with them vs. the stock heads. I was under my truck yesterday putting my new swaybars on and was able to tighten up some exhaust collector bolts only a few hours after the truck was off. I was never able to even get close to the stock manifolds after a couple hours.

The clearances are tight, but the JBA's are engineered very well. The fit is snug, but they fit nonetheless. There isn't much room down there at all in our trucks. Overall I'm very happy with them.

Alec, do u know anything about JBA shorty stainless headers for the 4.0 v6?? Let me know thanks i have found some for a pretty cheap price

Hello. I just replaced my Pacesetter headers with some JBA black ceramic coated headers. They fit real nice, and a breeze to install. I'm very happy with them. :)
