good service ideas and info?

Hello chaps
I have bought a 98 x 4.0 xlt sohc
With 200k on
Body work mint
Engine strong
Im planning on giving it a good service and would like suggestions on what bits to do
I didnt get any history
I know over the last 5 years its only done 11k and prior to that the other 190 from new mostly motorway miles

It has a rattle on the engine
Id like to give the auto trans a service too
Plus engine service

Could someone take 10 mins and share there experties
I wont be doing the work . my brother and friend will be
Both brilliant mechanics
Ill just be making tea

Rattle in the engine could be a problem. Usually a sign of the timing chain guides going - which is an expensive repair and has lead MANY people to ditch and scrap their explorers.

Keep a logbook of everything you do to the vehicle.
Dates, part numbers, cost, mileage done and so on. The you have a history.
I started this when I bought a 1996 and can tell you mileage of every tank of gas since I bought it. Log everything. It removes the fog of time from the memory equation.

Included are various manufacturer filter numbers, plugs and and oil types as well as differential and transmission type, VIN, other useful info so I don't have to hunt it down when I need it.

Your transmission is a 5R55E. If it's never been serviced at 200k, most would recommend only dropping
the pan and changing the fluid and filter. Some would say don't do anything at that mileage. Your call. GL
