Hi,

Tires plus is slinging these tires to me for $450 for 4 new ones. Does anyone know if these are good for a 4x4 '97 explorer XLT?

Thanks,

wazzles

I did some initial googling and it seems people slam these tires for having poor snow handling. I live in Colorado so I don't need that.

I had a set of 265/75/16 Wrangler RT'S on mine last winter. They did fine for me. I now have Duratracs which are awesome but expensive.

Always thought my RT/S did fantastic in bad weather. No complaints there.

BUT - They ride like crap!

LOL! Tires are ridiculous...

I have Wrangler RT/S on Shamrock, and think they ride awesome... Better than the Cooper Discoverers I had on Snowball, and light years better than the American Prospector AT's (BF Goodrich product) on Wedgie. In fact, I'm going to swap rims and tires from one truck to the other to get the Wranglers back...

I have to agree. The RTS I had on my Sport Trac road just fine and lasted forever. So I think overall they rate a 9 out of 10 with me.

Ok so I guess I'm feeling better about pursuing these tires for my ride. The consensus seems to be they are fine.

There are a lot of people that hate RT/S me being one of them. Not very good traction in any weather. Once they get past half worn they are noisy, hard to keep balanced, don't ride very nice ect.
