I picked up a new to me explorer yesterday for free its a 2000 Eddie Bauer with the sohc
V6 the intereor is super clean the pain and body is in cherry shape except for the fender which I will be replacing and it runs excellent except for when I was driving home on the free way it turned off out of no where so I pulled over and put it in park and it started right up and I made it home would anyone be able to point me in the right direction on where to start to diagnose the problem

If no trouble codes are present, likely an intermittent electrical problem, like, ignition switch, poor connection in the wiring harness somewhere, which might be power feed to fuel pump relay, or computer power relay, maybe intermittent fuel pump relay itself, those things come to mind.

As a cheap start, if no trouble codes, try switching out the fuel pump relay, drive awhile, see if problem recurs. If the shut-down is real sudden-like, with no sputtering or missing, it is most likely a shut-off of power somewhere. imp

Check the connection of the inertia switch, they can become lose.
