Got an ELM wireless OBDII reader that is working just great with my iPhone. Now I have more data to fret over.

-The coolant temp maxes out at 175. Is this normal? The temp gauge is barely at a 1/4 but I have plenty of heat.

-O2 sensors read 0V. How about that?
- At idle( 750rpm), the ignition timing is 12 degrees advance. In the days of timing light 12 was a lot. How do you set timing these days? I suspect the computer does.

Judging by your location and the recent weather 175 seems fine.

Also not that if there was an issue with an o2 sensor you'd get a check engine light.

Not sure about what the exact timing is at idle, but the timing is controlled and adjusted on the fly by the computer.

In cold weather my timing is some 14 degree. And my MPG dropped to the ground...
Also, at low ambient temperature, with a seized fan clutch, engine temperature will be low. Add a cardboard in front of the radiator, covering 1/2 of area. That's a trick learned from when I was unfortunate (or was I stupid?) to live in a colder climate.

How did u get it to work, I've ordered 3 different Bluetooth elm327 tried 5 different APS or software, they can never read my ecu?

My guess is the Bluetooth. After I noticed they also sell WiFi models, I went for it. WiFi connections are smoother than Bluetooth. It worked on first try. Pluck down another 15 bucks.

Did that in Chicago years ago. Necessary? Well, if the thermostat's doing it's job, probably not, unless continuing temps. below zero F.

Really hot climates, like mine, West-Central Arizona, 120`+ summer, various other considerations come into play.

Like using Mercury metal as engine coolant! imp

You probably have a 175 tstat in there.

I agree. I think the thermostat is running too cool. This will drop your MPG. I'd replace the thermostat with an OEM temp rated one. I have the BT ELM327 and have had no issues connecting to it with my andrid phone or windows laptop. And, it has read every car I've plugged it into, including Ford, Mazda, Toyota, Nisan, VW, Volvo, and BMW.

Starting from cold it still reads about 55 for the coolant temperature. Can’t be right.
