Was wondering what some of you have paid to either fix or replace '92 transmission. What mine has been doing is slip when cold, leaks, and more and more lately has been making a lot of noise when i slow down and while idleing in drive(at stop lights). I know its just a matter of time but right now would not be a good one because i aint got the money to fix it! Anyway, just wondering your thoughts. Thanks in advance

$1000-$3000 depending on where you are and what you get replaced. Search for "A4LD" and read thru all the tranny posts. This has been discussed ad nauseum...

MY personal experience - $1700 for a rebuild from AAMCO. A BRAND NEW FACTORY REPLCEMENT was $900. With a warranty. Little did I know....(wish I knew that before I did the junkyard swaps) :o

Yea, i dont think there is any getting around it, im probably going to need a new one. How did you find out about the factory replacement? Is it possible i could get one that cheap?

This was back in like late 96....prices might have changed. There's a place in Az that does replacement trannies for CHEAP...I forget the name, but they do A-4's for GM....dunno about the Fords A-4 though.

You can always call a local dealer....or search online....
