All,
My wife has a 93 explorer 4x4 with 170,000+ miles on it. My question is
wether to keep the truck, assuming it has many more miles to go; or do I let her go???? I personally like the vehicle, and have heard of them going 300,000+. Any advice would help a lot!!!

Thanks,

Jaypbrian

My advice is to use subject lines that give readers some clue as to what the subject is.

Everybody here has "got a question."

As long as you do preventative maintainance, it should last for a long time.

I'm sorry,
I didn't mean to confuse you....

i gotta 92' with 176k and its still pumpin hard...

all the problems with it are associated with the eletrical crap and little stuff that ive done to it (like the steering after a body lift)

the engine is still pumpin fine, transmission still shifts gears with ease, transfercase still goes in 4x4

i need to get some new u-joints so i can get rid of the slapping and grinding noises under the car

other then that i plan on going another 176k...

its kinda costy to fix some things, but most everthing can be repaired (by yourself) for pretty cheap.

just keep up with changing the oil every 3k, flushing the coolent, change transmission fluid, transfercase fluid, and the gear oil twice a year... and if it starts running funny, clean the MAF. if it starts eating oil, tighten down the head bolts. if it starts making crazy noises over bumps and in reverse, get new radius arm bushings,

ya should be good from there.

I wouldn't sell it; you wouldn't get more then 8 or 9 hundred. Keep it until the repairs become too expensive to justify keeping it. Drive it into the ground.

Why even bother posting if your gonna be an ASS and not give any advice in relation to his question, he posted in general explorations bud

On a side note I have 195,000 on my 95 and she still runs like a dream, all I have done is changed the oil every 3000 with replacing a few other parts.

Thanks for the advice all!!!!
I think I am going to keep the car

Thanks,
Jaypbrian
