ive got a 98 sport with the auto 4wd and a couple months ago it got stuck in 4wd. it stayed like that for about a week, then finally disengaged. now sometimes when i turn the wheels real sharp it makes a popping noise and jerks (doesnt matter if its on pavement or dirt). whatever happened to it made the auto 4wd quit working. its in 2wd all the time now except for reverse it still tries to work. but when it does try to engage in rev it sounds horrible almost like something slipping. could the t case chain be slipping? or do you think its something else? i could really use some help.
