how exactly do I use the clamps properly? My inlet is 2.5 but my tubing is 2.25. The guy at advanced auto said my pipe should fit inside the inlet, would it be snug enough?

The guy at Advance Auto is an idiot. Your inlet's are enlarged for a 2.5" pipe to slip in.

You need an adapter. From 2.25 to 2.5.

thats the thing, I had an adapter, and the enlarged end was the same as the inlet. the inlet measured 2.5.

Then you need a different adapter. And yes, normally the guys at Advanced are idiots. Take some measurements of what you have, then go measure some adapters.

will do, so whats the right way to use the exhaust clamps, I have read to put them near the end of the pipe and do not overtighten.

Yeah, that's pretty much it. Leave some room between the clamp, and the end of the pipe, and tighten until it starts to deform the pipe together.

I'm assuming all your doing is swapping out your muffler? I did that same thing and tbh I'm not that impressed with the change in sound. I have a Flowmaster Super 44 and outside standing in the back it sounds amazing, but its just not loud enough. Although cutting out my resonator helped quite a bit.

I might actually move it a little closer to the cat, but where ever I place it I am just going to put a turndown on the outlet.

Thanks man, I just wanted to make double sure before I did anything. this is the first time I am doing exhaust work with clamps.

man, they were getting $300 for both around here last year... But last time I said something about taking them off I got a major flaming.

Don't know if these help or not, straight stock size piping.

Not exactly sure why, but they used a clamp in the front and weld the top over... perhaps they were just having trouble getting the front to close up or it's there for stability? I'm not positive. But hopefully those help in what you're trying to do.

yeah, that helps and is that the stock position?

How well do those turn-down pipes work? When I had my resonator cut out I had it dumped for about a day and loved the sound. But my father advised (forced :p) me to reinstall the tail-pipe cause of the gases being pushed into the cab. I'd need a solid fact to show him if he'll let me install one rather than the tail-pipe.

Prices were up last year. That are getting about $70 each or something like that no. Lot's of people don't know about them and you can sometimes buy them off of peoples junk cars really cheap. Just because they don't know.

Honda CRX's only have one and at that time last year that one was worth $380. Not bad around here it's a two hour drive to the companies that buy them. Otherwise it's an hour drive to a guy that buy's them for $5 or $10 less them they pay at the other places. It all depends on junk prices and platinum prices. Because they contain platinum. Becareful in that business because 4cyl will burn up the converters.

As for down pipes. Oh yeah I ask the exhaust guy about the 'one' I wanted on my explorer. It was $150 down pipe so I'll have to pass on it :(

Yeah, I didn't think about how prices are fluttering around so much these days.

Anyone know where I can get one of those oval shaped flanges like the ones on the inlet of the stock cats?

I've yet to have a problem with it. I do smell the exhaust more when I'm just sitting there, but that's alos when it's sat for about 5 minutes, with the windows down, and most of the times with the doors open. I had to sit and wait for a train today, super cold, windows up, no smells of exhaust at all.

But I have it dumped so far back that to make it's way up to the driver area would take a good bit of gases, not to mention what the wind/breeze/circulation under the vehicle will do to remove them.
