Just a longshot... is your dashboard illumination lights dimmed down?
If so... you won't see the O/D light up.

Scared myself with that in the past.

you should be fine to tow as long as you find a speed to keep the tranny from hunting, all o/d dose is lock out the top gear on mine it dosen't seem to change the shift pattern at all

I wouldn't worry about it. Some four wheelers and a dirt bike isn't a heavy load.

i would still like to fix this if i know something is broken i gotta fix it ya know...btw it towed them fine today with it.

Pop the cover off the steering column. You should be able to see the wire comin from the end of the shifter for the o/d switch. Its known to break. Add a lil piece of jumper wire to reconnect it and you should be fine. I had this issue in my 96 EB.

so it took almost 2 years but i fixed the problem...so i am reviving this thread to update how i fixed it for the next person with the problem...I bougth a used shifter for the column. I took the cover off the column and traced the wire under the dash and amazingly it ends right in front of your face simple as can be to get to when you look under the dash. So i mounted the used one and plugged it in HOORAY it works. cost me 12 bucks on ebay and about 30 mins to do. any detailed questions shoot me a pm.

Wow- thanks for the update! That's awesome!

you have no idea how nice it is to use because going up and down hills and mountains is a lot easier...plus towing..omg it is great
