Gen 4 hatch (06) swapped to a Gen 3 (02)

The only thing that didn’t fit was the small plug for the wires. Everything else was direct fit. Currently looking over schematics to figure out the wiring. Old small connector had for wires, the 4th gen hatch has 8 wires. I’m guessing those extra wires are for the backup sensors

I test fitted this 06 hatch at the junk yard on an 03 and it worked. Wires and all. It seems as if the small connector on mine (an 02) is diffenent.

I don't think the "extra" wires are for the backup sensors as they are in the bumper, not the tailgate.

I’m sure you’re right, I opened up with gen 4 hatch to see where all the wires went, the wiper motor had 8 wires to it. I did the same thing to my buddies 03. The 03 and the 06 had the same connectors. Theres just something different about the 02. My plan is to bolt it up to his 03 again and test everything out on his. If it works, I’ll go to a junk yard and snag a wiring harness out of an 03+ and hope that works.
